The Beacon Activity Centre is looking for people who have a heart and passion for young people, the great outdoors and for leading adventurous activities. Our vision is to enable visitors to ‘Discover more about themselves, each other and God.’
Being part of the Youth & Children’s/Beacon team is a split role. Part of our ministry is with children and young people ranging from 6 months to 17 years in the main house, building relationships through playing games, Bible exploration and adventure activities. The second part is with school groups (mainly in Summer and Autumn Term) hosting residentials and facilitating outdoor activities (to learn more about this please look at our Schools page here).
It is not essential to have had previous outdoor activity experience, as you will be trained as an instructor and will gain qualifications in First Aid, an Archery GB Instructor and opportunity to develop more. As well as these qualifications, you will be given onsite specific training in the zip wire, crate stack, bushcraft, low ropes, orienteering and team building activities and given opportunities to develop your leadership and communication skills.
You will be working and living as part of the Christian Community at Lee Abbey, Devon reporting to the Beacon Centre Manager. There is an Occupational Requirement that our instructors are Christians who are committed to the vision, mission and values and promises we follow. The position is residential with an allowance and full board provided.
Successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check.
